The Indian media industry and news viewers have been waiting for Arnab Goswami to announce his new venture. The wait may well be over now. The ace journalist while speaking to The News Minute has revealed that the new venture will be called ‘Republic’ and work is already on to get the venture up soon. Speaking further, the former editor in chief of Times Now, said that more details would be revealed only after a few weeks.
On November 1, he had quit the Times Now channel. As per the website, the new venture will mainly be based out of Mumbai. It also quoted sources as saying that a major TV distribution network and an advertising and media buying group, are a part of investors who are coming together to back the senior journalist. The website report also said that all the investors are ‘Indian’ and not from abroad.

During his farewell speeches to Times Now employees, Arnab Goswami had pointed out that he would head an ‘independent’ media venture. Even while the venture may start with a digital footprint, a news channel may also come up before Uttar Pradesh Assembly pollselections.

The English news industry in the country has seen quite a few significant changes after Arnab’s stepping down. While some members of his core team resigned soon after, editor of News X channel, Rahul Shivsankar , has joined Times Now as Chief Editor. Hector Kenneth, who was in charge of news operations in News X has also joined the channel as Output chief. Both Rahul and Hector had been part of Arnab Goswami’s team in 2005, during initial days of Times Now.
