Karnataka Social Welfare minister H Anjaneya was today taken to task by a schools student after he made a pitch for everyone to get their children enrolled in government schools. However, a clearly unhappy schoolgirl challenged the minister. She, in no uncertain terms, asked him to enrol his children in government schools first and then she would follow, Times Now reported. The minister faced a moment of embarrassment upon being challenged by a young girl who studied in 10th standard. The girl said, ”‘First enrol your children in govt school and then I will follow.’’

Worse was to follow, as a video, which surfaced on the social media, shows the girl talking spiritedly to Anjaneya and even saying that most ministers make big promises but fail to deliver. The girl lashes out at him for the deplorable condition of government schools. The girl did not spare even CM Siddaramaiah about the deficiencies in government schools and said that all her appeals have fallen on deaf ears.

Anjaneya participated at the Pratibha Karanji’ programme at the Government Boys PU College in Chitradurga where he addressed the people and spoke about dignitaries like Dr B.R. Ambedkar, Sir M Visvesvaraya and Prof U.R. Rao who had made it big studying in government schools, Deccan Chronicle reported. But his advocacy received a setback when Nayana lashed out at the minister following the deteriorating conditions of the government-run schools. She confronted the minister in front of the crowd and chided him about the hapless condition of students and how the government has turned a blind to the apathy. She was of the opinion that the government representatives and officials will not take things seriously unless their own wards are in those schools.
