Taking a stand for her husband, Ritu Kumar wife of Delhi Women and Child Development Minister Sandeep Kumar, who has been arrested in a sex scandal, on Sunday said that her husband has been falsely implicated and that the truth will come out soon.
In a conversation with India Today, Ritu said, “My husband is innocent. The rape charges that have been levied against him are a conspiracy and I am sure the truth will come out soon.”
Kumar was arrested on Saturday after the woman who figured in the “objectionable CD” filed a complaint against him. The woman in her complaint said that she was drugged by Kumar on the pretext of help with a ration card, she also alleged that there was nothing “consensual” in the sex CD that was widely shared and aired on different social media channels. She has been taken for medical investigation while Kumar has been booked under rape charges by the Delhi Police under Section 376. Calling the charges as a conspiracy, Sandeep Kumar had earlier denied the allegations and maintained that he was not the man in the video that has been circulated.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday removed Sandeep Kumar, 34, from the cabinet after a nine-minute video featuring him with two women in “an objectionable” position was handed over to the AAP convener. Responding to these allegations, Kumar said that he was being framed for being a Dalit and that he is not the one present int he video footage.
