Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav is likely to announce his separation from the party founded by him and form a new party or a front today. As per Indian Express, the announcement may be made at a press conference at the Ram Manohar Lohia Trust office in Lucknow. “Netaji on Monday could announce a new path for himself, separate from the Samajwadi Party. He is constantly being ignored by the new party leadership (under son Akhilesh Yadav). He is not invited to the SP’s events. He feels it will be better to separate himself from SP,” the paper quoted a source close to the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister as saying.
According to the report, the Azamgarh member of the Parliament has also invited Lok Dal president Sunil Singh for the press conference. At one point of time, Mulayam had headed Lok Dal’s state unit. Earlier this year, he was invited to join the party when his son Akhilesh Yadav took over the reigns of the party from him. The Lok Dal had even offered party presidentship to him. The report quoted sources as saying that Mulayam may announce a new party in alliance with the Lok Dal. “On Monday, I will once again offer Netaji to come with Lok Dal and take charge as its national president,” Sunil Singh told The Indian Express on Sunday.
A leader who is considered close to Mulayam’s brother Shivpal Yadav said they expected the announcement of a new party since a front will need the association of more political parties, the paper added.
