Indian actor Salman Khan has supported Pakistani artists who come to India. Khan said, “Pakistan actors not terrorists.” He added that the Pakistani actors who come to India get a permit from the government. Salman said, “They are artists, not terrorists. It is the Indian government who gives them permits and visas.” On the recent surgical attacks by the Indian Army across LoC at PoK, Salman said, “They were terrorists, hence the action was proper.” Incidentally, today, in the wake of the Uri attack where 20 Indian Army soldiers were killed by terrorists, the Motion Picture Producers Association has passed a resolution to ban all Pakistani actors from working in the Indian film industry. Producer TP Aggarwal, the president of IMPPA had said, “IMPPA in their 87th annual general meeting passed (a resolution that) no Pakistani will be hired by their producer members forever.”
The decision by IMPPA has come a day after India launched a scathing surgical strike to demolish seven terror launch pads across the LoC in Pakistan occupied Kashmir. Last week, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena had issued a 48-hour warning to Pakistani artistes and actors including Fawad Khan and Ali Zafar, to quit India by September 25 otherwise they would be forced out. The film wing of the party called, Maharashtra Navnirman Chitrapat Karmachari Sena, had earlier reinforced its hardline stance against the Pakistani artists and also denied reports that Salman Khan had called the MNS to put a stay on the ultimatum.
The MNS thanked various channels who have reiterated their ban on showing and giving work to Pakistani actors and artists. They have also warned that films and serials in which Pakistani actors star, will be banned by them, with protests. These films include the recently hyped, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil by Karan Johar. Reportedly, Pakistani actor Fawad Khan is also supposed to star in a Salman Khan movie.
