We keep reading feel-good stories about IITian who are doing very well in their professional and personal lives, but this story about an IITian tells an altogether different side. This Indian woman from Kolkata claims that she is from IIT Kharagpur. She has no job. She has lost her passport. She stays in a motel on a daily basis. And, she sells handmade paintings on the streets of Washington in the US to make ends meet. Her name is Jayshri Gill. She hails from New Alipore in Kolkata and claims to be a 1991 alumnus of IIT Kharagpur. It was truly shocking when some Indians working in the US met Jayshri Gill on the streets of Bellevue, Washington on 148th Avenue. The people who had met her later posted pictures and a video of Jayshri on Facebook on January 17, appealing for help. Reacting to the matter, her family, staying in Kolkata says that they are unaware of Jayshri's condition. Moreover, the family says they will approach the Modi government to seek help, according to a report in Indian Express. Reportedly, Jayshri has worked with prestigious IT giants like TCS, Cognizant. She stayed in the US in various top cities including California and San Francisco. According to a video, which has gone viral on Facebook, Jayshri claims to be a software engineer. She has given her US number for anyone who has any job offer. According to one Prabhat Page, a Washington-based techie working in the field of hi-tech sales, "We met her on the streets, while she was selling paintings. I asked her about what she was doing and was shocked." As per the IE report, Jayshri has been staying in the US for around 18 years.
