Accusing Aam Aadmi party leader Arvind Kejriwal of playing divisive politics, Shiromani Akali Dal’s Delhi chief Manjit Singh G K today asked him not to use religion for political gains.

Referring to information on compensation disbursement to families of 1984 anti-Sikh genocide victims, Singh said Delhi government has no role as it is simply acting as a “post office” by disbursing the compensation amount released by the BJP-led central government.

“Kejriwal is only acting as a post office and he cannot take credit for the initiative of the central government,” he said.

Manjit Singh G K, who is also president of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, and General Secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa accused Kejriwal of encouraging to elements who have been excommunicated from Sikh panth by the Akal Takht, the highest temporal seat of Sikhs.

Referring to a meeting Kejriwal had with Darshan Singh Raagi, G K said “those mixing up with the people who are against the Akal Takht cannot think of any good for Sikhs or the state of Punjab and its people.”

Manjit Singh G K also termed Kejriwal’s plans of holding a political rally at Muktsar during Maghi as “ridiculous” as he did not know the history and background of Maghi and was “only going there to eat ‘rewris’ (sweets).

“He does not know the history behind the event which is connected with the supreme sacrifice of ’40 Muktaas’ who laid their lives for the sake of Sikh Panth.

“If such is the idea behind Kejriwal’s visit to Shri Muktsar Sahib on January 14 then I am really sorry to say that the leader of Aam Admi Party is only using religion for his political gains.”
