Gaya District Court on Wednesday awarded the former Janata Dal United (JDU) leader’s son Rocky Yadav lifetime imprisonment in the shocking Bihar road rage case that took place in 2016. According to ANI, the District court has also sentenced two others to lifetime imprisonment and Rocky’s father Bindeshwari Yadav to 5 year jail term. Bindeshwari was accused of tampering with the proof collected against his accused son. Commenting on court’s decision, Rocky’s lawyer told ANI that they will file an appeal in the High Court. The court, on 31 August, convicted Rocky and three others in the murder of 31- year-old Aditya Sachdeva last year. Rocky who is the son of former JDU MLC Manorama Devi was accused of shooting Sachdeva after he overtook the former’s Land Rover on the highway connecting Gaya and Bodh Gaya on 7 May 2016.
According to police, the court has also convicted three other co-accused, Teny Yadav, cousin brother of Rocky and Rajesh Singh, bodyguard of Manorama Devi in the murder case.
Rocky was arrested on May 11 and later lodged in Gaya Central Jail. Notably, a year after Sachdeva was brutally murdered, the Gaya District Court held Rocky and 3 others guilty in the murder case. According to Indian Express, Rocky was granted bail Patna High Court in October last year, but later the Supreme Court cancelled his bail and was sent back to jail. As per Police, Rocky has confessed that he killed Sachdeva.
