Republic Day 2024: Ahead of Republic Day, the parade rehearsals are being held in the National Capital. The rehearsals shall be held on four days from January 17 that is on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Due to the ongoing parade rehearsals, an advisory on traffic restrictions has been issued by the Delhi Police for the commuters in the national capital. The advisory details that the rehearsals for the parade will be held on Kartavya Path from January 17 to 21.
To ensure the smooth flow of the parade along Kartavya Path, traffic restrictions will be imposed at Kartavya Path-Rafi Marg crossing, Kartavya Path-Janpath crossing, Kartavya Path-Mansingh road crossing, and Kartavya Path-C-Hexagon from 10:15 am to 12:30 pm. Moreover, Kartavya Path, stretching from Vijay Chowk to India Gate, will also remain closed to traffic during this period, states the traffic advisory.
Delhi Police states that traffic diversion caused by the restrictions may result in congestion on nearby roads. To circumvent these areas, authorities recommend alternative routes for commuters. People traveling between north and south can consider taking Ring Road Sarai Kale Khan-IP Flyover-Rajghat, Lajpat Rai Marg-Mathura Road-Bhairon Road-Ring Road, or Aurobindo Marg-Safdarjung Road-Kamal Attaturk Marg-Kautilaya Marg-Sardar Patel Marg-Mother Teresa Crescent-RML-Baba Kharak Singh Marg.
Planning ahead of the journey is also advised to avoid inconvenience. Similar traffic restrictions were imposed by the Delhi Police last week as well on four days causing the commuters to take different routes and some congestion around places.
For those traveling from South Delhi to Connaught Place and Central Secretariat, motorists are advised to consider the following routes: Mother Teresa Crescent-Parl Street-Mandir Marg/Baba Kharak Singh Marg, or Ring Road-Vande Matram Marg-Link Road-Panchkuian Road.
Motorists heading towards Vinay Marg and Shanti Path, with a destination of New Delhi and beyond, are recommended to take either Sardar Patel Marg-Mother Teresa Crescent-RML roundabout-Baba Kharak Singh Marg or Park Street-Mandir Marg for onward travel to North Delhi/New Delhi, the advisory mentions.
