You have known and heard so much by now about the demise of Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, which has caused sorrow and grief in the state. Actors, politicians and prominent leaders across the country conveyed their tributes through social media. You have heard and watched it too.

But not every celebrity or leader can share ”intimate” memories that reveal to us about the “sweet” side of Jayalalithaa – their beloved leader. Shy though she was, Jayalalithaa had a fun-loving side but the world at large has only seen the ‘Iron Woman’ aspect of her personality.

Jayalalithaa passes away: She loved her people as a mother loves her children, says Superstar Mammootty

Actress Sheela, one of the leading heroines of the Malayalam film industry, is an exception to this and she shared memories of her ”bonding” with Jayalalithaa, offering us a rare glimpse of another ”sweet” side to the Iron Lady.

This is what Malayalam actress Sheela told Asianet News about Jayalalithaa, “She and I used to sneak out covering our faces to watch second show movies. After the movie, we used to go and have falooda at her favorite stall by the roadside. She loved faloodas…”

Actress Sheela said, “Jaya and I moved into our respective new homes at the same time. In terms of design, my focus was on beauty and luxury whereas her focus was on something. I had breathtakingly beautiful waterfalls designed in my living room, the first of its kind to be seen in Chennai, but guess how Jaya did up her living room?”

Actress Sheela pauses and the memory brings a smile and a laugh to her face, “Jaya had her living room designed like a massive library and the world’s best books were always stocked there. She was one person who loved to read all the time. I believe that Jayalalithaa is the most intelligent person ever – she was brilliant.”
