Noida Police on August 6 arrested a man accused of targeting high-profile executives and conning them by providing fake business offers and later robbing them. According to a report by Hindustan Times, the man identified as 35-year-old Akshay Saini,was arrested from Nithari intersection. Saini was nabbed by police on Sunday evening for his alleged role in as many as 68 incidents of forgery in Delhi and NCR region.
The report states that Saini used to first gather information of directors and CEOs of various multinational firms in Delhi-NCR from internet and used to contact them for meeting in person. Framing himself as a hotelier, who had properties in Delhi and Goa, Saini used to lure these businessmen by offering them impressive proposals. He used to set up meetings at premium restaurants and robbed them of their valuables by threatening to kill them, the police said.
“We arrested Saini from Nithari intersection on Sunday evening while conducting a routine check. His accomplice, Hemant Sharma, was also riding with him on a motorcycle, but he escaped,” HT quoted the station house officer of Sector 20 police station saying.
Currently, Saini’s relative Sharma has five cases booked under his name at Sector 20 police station in Noida. When questioned by police, Saini said he did not remember details of all his robberies. According to HT, he robbed people in Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon, Faridabad, Ghaziabad and Haridwar.
According to police, Saini could not produce registration papers of the two-wheeler he was riding and after he was taken into custody and questioned, he admitted all the crimes he committed in Delhi NCR. The police also said another relative of Saini was assisting him in all these crimes. The report further said many cases went unreported as the victims did not want to reveal that they were fooled. Apart from looting business professionals, both Saini and his relative also robbed jewellery, laptops and cash.
