The state of Tamil Nadu is witnessing major political change ever since the death of J Jayalalithaa in December, 2016. The attempt is to fill the void left by Jaya. Big names are set to join the Tamil political arena and actor Kamal Haasan is leading the rush – he is likely to launch his party on February 21. But, ahead of this big political move, Kamal Haasan paid a visit to Rajinikanth at his Poes Garden house in Chennai. While Kamal and Rajinikanth joining politics to present a single front has been much talked about, the recent comment by the former over the latter’s leaning towards the colour saffron has generated a big controversy.
However, after the meeting got over at Rajinikanth’s residence at Poes Garden today, the actor said that he just came to meet Rajini ahead of his entry into politics. “It’s a courtesy call, not a political meeting. I came to inform him about my political tour. He wished me good luck,” Kamal Haasan was quoted as saying by ANI. He further said that a merger is not on the cards right now. “Only time will tell,” said Kamal Haasan on being asked if Rajinikanth and he are entering into an alliance. “The meeting is not related to politics. Before starting my political journey, I am meeting everyone that I like,” Kamal added.
Meanwhile, Superstar Rajinkanth too came out after meeting Kamal Haasan and said that he is happy and is praying for his success in politics. “Kamal Haasan wants to serve the people of Tamil Nadu. I pray to God that he attains success. He has not entered politics for fame or money but only to serve people of the state,” Rajinikanth said after meeting Haasan. Earlier this month, Haasan had said that he and superstar Rajinikanth needed to contemplate if it was necessary for them to join hands and face an election. Haasan said both of them were being asked repeatedly if they would face the polls together and added that he endorsed the view of Rajinikanth in this respect where the latter felt that only time can answer this question.
Meanwhile, Rajinikanth on December 31 had announced his entry into politics and said he will launch his own party. The actor said he will launch a political party which will contest all 234 assembly constituencies in Tamil Nadu. He said the party will be launched ahead of assembly elections at an appropriate time. Kamal Haasan then had given his best wishes to the Tamil superstar in his endeavour.
