While India withdrew a Bill that tags Pakistan as a terror sponsor state, US is introducing several Bills to tag Pakistan as a terror sponsor. Isn’t it ironic that an activity (terrorism) that affects us the most is going reconciliatory to the perpetrator and United States which is not even directly affected is coming out with several actions. In a noteworthy development, the Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Rajiv Chandrashekhar today withdrew his private members Bill asking for Pakistan to be declared a terror sponsor, saying there was no need to investigate on whether the neighboring country is a terror state or not, as the world knows it is. Speaking in the Upper House of the Parliament he said that the Centre should explore more options against Pakistan rather than candle raising and military options.
This is not right as India has been a major victim of terrorism and it is only becoming worse every day. While there is a need for the government to take a very strong stand on this, Rajeev Chandrasekhar’s act is abrupt and unexplainable. The Indo-Pakistan relations have reached such a stage that reconciliatory moves should not be encouraged.
This notwithstanding the fact that, senior BJP leader Subramanian Swami had said in the upper House that the time has come for India to end reconciliation with Pakistan. Stressing that India’s western neighbor has always abetted and aided enemies of the United States he asked how long should India keep on citing peace with Pakistan.
In a few days back, In a biggest statement ever made by an ex-Pakistani general that proves that Pakistan is a terrorist sponsoring state, Ex-Pak NSA Mahmud Ali Durrani exposed the role of Pakistan in the 26/11 Mumbai attack while speaking at the 19th Asian Security Conference, Delhi, he said, “I hate to admit it that the 26/11 Mumbai attack carried out by a terror group based in Pakistan is classic trans-border terrorist event.” He also talked about Hafiz Saeed and said, “Hafiz Saeed has no utility, we should act against him.” In reaction to the NSA’s comment, Pak Defence Analyst Tariq Pirzada has said, “Ex-Pakistan NSA is speaking pure rubbish.”
