Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu today stressed there was a need to practice yoga on daily basis and said it is one of the ways to realise oneself, a report by news agency PTI said. Stressing that yoga goes beyond asana, the minister also felt that there is lot more that goes into practicing it. He added that the other ways of realising goals is through music as it provides harmony between soul, mind, and body.
Suresh Prabhu was speaking to a gathering in Mumbai as The Yoga Institute celebrated the 88th birthday of Yogi Jayadeva Yogendraji. Among those, who were present on the occasion included Santoor maestro Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma. Speaking at the function, he said Yogi Jayadeva always considered Yoga as a way of life and not just an exercise. Elaborating further, the Santoor maestro further said that Yogi Jayadeva always advised avoiding shouting and raising your voice as anger can overpower oneself.
Hansa Jayadeva, director, The Yoga Institute said the centenary logo of The Yoga Institute has been designed to celebrate the mission as well as the vision of the oldest organised yoga institute in the world.
“Three generations of Yogis are relentlessly working to spread the knowledge of Yoga since 100 years. The Institute continues sharing practical applications of yogic ideals and making Yoga a way of life for millions across the globe,” she added.
Last month while addressing an International Yoga festival in Rishikesh via video conferencing, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said that the World is threatened by challenges-terrorism and climate change. While underlining that “there should be peace among nations”, the prime minister had said that Yoga was an “a way to create such harmony and peace within individuals, families, societies, nations.”
