Rahul Gandhi Gujarat visit: Training his guns again at PM Narendra Modi, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said that it’s a matter of shame that Sardar Patel’s idol is being made in China. “Sardar Patel ji ki murti ban rahi hai,aur wo bhi China me ban rahi hai. Uske peechey ‘Made in China’ likha hua hai, sharm ki baat hai, (Sardar Patel’s idol is being made, and that too in China, Made in China will be written behind it, it’s a matter of shame)” Gandhi was quoted as saying by ANI. Gandhi has hit the campaign trail in the Patidar-dominated areas of poll-bound Gujarat eyeing support of the community. Today is the second day of his three-day visit.
Earlier, taking a dig at BJP governments in the state and at the Centre, Gandhi said if the Congress was voted to power, his party’s government would function from Gujarat and not on orders from Delhi. On Monday, he attacked Modi over note ban, GST and the ‘Gujarat model’ of development. Gandhi, who started the day by offering prayers at the famous Dwarkadhish Temple, interacted with people during a roadshow.
In one the highlights of the day, Gandhi also had a bullock cart ride on the Dwarka-Jamnagar route in Saurashtra where he was welcomed at several places. The Congress boss also met Hardik Patel, the Patidar quota stir spearhead and a bitter critic of the BJP dispensation in the state.
He made a number of short speeches at various places and assailed Modi over demonetisation and a host of other issues. Gandhi also highlighted the issue of unemployment under the NDA rule and promised to solve the problems being faced by Gujarat farmers if his party is voted to power in the state.
