After campaigning for Gandhi family and days of speculation, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is now set to enter full-time politics. However, she is yet to take the final decision, said sources.

Priyanka will lead and oversee assembly elections due next year in UP. The formal announcement is expected in 48 hours.

BJP reacted to Priyanka’s entry into politics calling it a suicidal attempt by the Gandhi family that depicts party vice-president Rahul Gandhi. Samajwadi Party, on the other hand, said that congress vote bank has been dwindling for a long time.

GVL Narsimha Rao said that the people of UP have dumped Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi. Satya Dev Tripathi, UP Congress spokesperson had said that Priyanka will step out of the family pocket boroughs of Amethi and Rae Bareli to compaign for the party.

Party general secretary Ghulam Nabi “Azad has said that Priyanka Gandhi’s role which was limited to Amethi and Rae Bareilly will be expanded soon,” said Congress leader P.L. Punia to ANI.

Ghulam Nabi Azad had met Priyanka Gandhi with the proposal, after securing a nod from party president Sonia Gandhi.

Congress party had earlier mentioned that Priyanka’s influencial personality and leadership would benefit the party’s position in the politically influencial state of UP.

Expecting a turn-around in the state of UP in assembly elections 2017, Congress is looking out for a fresh political barrage in the state.

Congress party had won 28 seats in Amethi in the 2012 assembly polls, however the party lost terribly in the 2014 elections when it won only 2 seats.

During the 2007 assembly elections in UP, Priyanka Gandhi had focused roping for the ten seats in the two weeks she stayed in Amethi Rae Bareilly region in an attempt to quell considerable infights going on within the party.

Priyanka had dealt with the people of Rae Bareilly during the Congress campaign gathering large crowds with ‘Amethi ka Danga, bitiya Priyanka.”
