Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Praful Patel has attacked the Congress for causing the downfall of his party. The former Union aviation minister today said in a meeting that the Congress conspired to defame the NCP all the time during which their alliance was in power in Maharashtra. Both parties were allies at the Centre also. Patel said that the scams during the previous government in the state were conspiracies by the Congress. He even blamed former Maharashtra chief minister and Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan of trying to defame the NCP.
Claiming that the NCP is suffering today because of the Congress, Patel further said that he sees more enemies in the Congress than the BJP. The Congress-NCP alliance lost in 2014 Assembly elections in Maharashtra, paving way for the formation of a BJP government led by Devendra Fadnavis and supported by the Shiv Sena.
Patel’s attack on the Congress is being seen as another instance of the growing proximity of the NCP and the BJP.
