In a shocking case some class XII students in Rehari in Jammu and Kashmir were mercilessly beaten by police. The students were thrashed, when they protested against unannounced cancellation of Physics papers as well as other changes being effected in the pattern of questions that had been used for years. It was reported by Times Now, that 11 students were injured in this incident. This lathi charge irked the students who started pelting stones on the police contingent. The police had to use teargas to take control of the situation fast-deteriorating situation.

The students were protesting against the State Board of School Education (SBSE) in support of their demands by raising slogans. Following the protests against SBSE, the students marched towards Rehari Chungi and blocked the vehicular movements thereby paralysing the traffic.

The students complaint was regarding the change in the examination pattern this year compared to the pattern of previous years. They also complained that Physics paper was set above the standards of class XII.

The tactics used by the police was effective as it dispersed the protesters and the situation returned to normal soon.
