Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that too many elections in the country are coming in the way of the development of the country. It is time to discuss this problem and find a solution. In an interview to CNN-News18, PM Modi said that everything the government does is connected with the elections. This is so because different types of elections are happening all over the country throughout the year.

He said that it is wrong to connect all initiatives of the country with elections. “Our country’s misfortune is that everything is connected with elections,” he said.

PM Modi said that the country is trapped in the cycle of elections. “It is time to take it out of this cycle. It is time to stop connecting everything with politics.” However, he noted that it can’t be done by a single party. “I hope that someday there will be a debate on this on a national level.”

During the interview, he also revealed the biggest mistake he has so far made since forming the government at the Centre in the country in May 2014. While talking to CNN-News18, PM Modi said when he entered the Parliament in 2014, the biggest challenge for him was to decide if he should talk about the condition of the Indian economy before the first budget of the country or think of the country.

”If I had revealed the condition of the economy, the sense of frustration across the country would have become widespread. Politics demanded that I should reveal it, but the national interest said, I shouldn’t,” he said during the interview, adding, “I considered national interest as my priority.”
