Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s broken silence on the consistent unrest in the valley of Kashmir, Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge said that PM Modi should have spoken during the parliament session and not outside it. He said, “While the Parliament session is on, he speaks outside,it is not a good thing.” He added that speaking during the parliament session would have send in a stronger message. In one of his first statement on the Kashmir crisis situation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his Alijapur visit, had said that every Indian loves Kashmir and “the azaadi (freedom) that every Indian feels, Kashmir can feel too.”
Even though, the Prime Minister failed to speak anything on the persistent violence in Kashmir during the parliament session, he made the comments at a rally in Madhya Pradesh. Invoking former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s policy on “insaniyat, Jamooriyat, Kashmiriyat”, PM Modi’s remarks synchronised with an earlier statement made by the Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on remembering Vajpayee’s offer.

PM Modi had also thanked the Congress party for standing by the government in its decision to warn Pakistan to stop its interference. Home Minister Rajnath Singh had earlier spoken about cross-border terrorism and eulogising terrorists especially after the series of violent attacks that took place in Kashmir after the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen militant Burhan Wani.
