Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday announced multiple development projects worth Rs 1000 cr in Daman. Along with the announcements of the projects, PM Modi handed over certificates to beneficiaries of various official schemes. After this, PM Narendra Modi attended a public meeting in Daman, where he lauded that region’s effort to make it one of the pioneers in cleanliness. During his address to the people of Daman, PM Modi said that the government has taken several steps to make that the welfare of fishermen is kept in order. PM Modi talked about the emphasis given by the BJP government on ‘blue revolution’.

At the public meeting, PM Modi made special emphasis on the cleanliness drive initiated in Daman. PM Modi said, “I am seeing mass movements in Daman towards cleanliness, using e-rickshaws and CNG.” PM Modi made parallels with India and Daman and called it ‘Mini India’ as people from all walks of life in the country live and work in the region.

PM Modi also lauded Daman being one of the ‘Open Defecation Free’ region in the country and congratulated the people and local administration for achieving such a feat. PM Modi at the public meeting talked about the importance of it, he said, “not only in terms of the number of people who have joined us but also in terms of the development projects being launched from here.”

In the evening, Narendra Modi is expected to travel in Chennai, where he will launch the much talked about Amma Two-wheeler Scheme. The scheme is an ambitious move by the AIADMK government, which will provide 50 per cent subsidy to working women to buy two-wheelers.

On Sunday, PM Modi will visit Puducherry and will visit the Aurobindo Ashram. At the ashram, he is expected to pay his tribute to Shri Aurobindo and even has plans for an interaction with the students of Sri Aurobindo International Centre of Education. Later in the day, he is expected to visit Auroville where he will release a commemorative a postage stamp on the golden jubilee celebrations of Auroville. In Puducherry, PM Modi will address a public meeting and later in the evening, he is expected to visit back in Gujarat. In Surat, he will flag off the ‘Run for New India Marathon’.
