Pitching the India growth story, PM Narendra Modi in his address to the Indian diaspora in Johannesburg said, “India is a land of opportunity for those who want to innovate and create, trade and invest.”
Modi, who is in South Africa for the second leg of his tour to Africa, said, “India is one of the brightest spots in the global economy. We have grown at 7.6% this year at a time when the world growth is slowing.” “We are working to grow over 8% in coming years,” he added.
“Our dynamism is not just of words, it is driven by concrete actions. We want to change the face of the Indian economy,” he promised, adding, “ek baar aakar toh dekhiye ki kya kayakalp ho raha hai (I invite you to come and witness the rejuvenation of India).”
PM Modi began his address by thanking the Indian community for their welcome.
“You have come from far off places to bless me. I have the pleasure to meet you and it is a pleasure to address you all,” he said. “I am very grateful to you,” the Prime Minister said amidst ‘Modi! Modi!’ chants. “You are busy people, tied to your work and responsibility, but I thank you for taking out time for me and welcoming me with such warmth and affection. Your love and affection makes my visit all the more special,” Modi added.
“I sent each one of you personal invites to send your suggestions on the Narendra Modi app, I received 1000s of innovative suggestions that have helped enrich my interaction with you,” he told the Indian diaspora.
