Senior AIADMK leader P H Pandian on Monday reflected on the alleged appointment of V K Sasikala as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and claimed that the late CM Jayalalithaa never wanted her to be her successor. Strongly opposing the elevation of Chinamma Sasikala, he said that the leader did not have the quality to be the General Secretary of AIAIDMK and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister. He said that he had not yet come out of the sadness of Amma’s demise. He said that it was because of the blessings of the late CMs Jayalalithaa and MGR that the swearing-in-ceremony of Sasikala did not take place.
Earlier speaking about the controversy and questions around Amma’s death, he said that the late CM was depressed. He claimed that Amma had been pushed at Poes Garden after which she had collapsed. He said that she was taken to the hospital after someone had pushed her and nobody was informed about the treatment was given to her. He raised his suspicions about Sasikala nd her family surrounding Amma’s remains at Rajaji Hall. He claimed that he did not see Sasikala and her family grieving the demise of Jayalalithaa following the cardiac arrest.
Pandian further demanded a probe against everyone present at Apollo Hospital on the night of Jayalalithaa demise. Earlier on Sunday, Sasikala had been elevated to the post of the leader of the legislature party following a meeting of AIADMK MLAs, paving the path for her to become Tamil Nadu’s next Chief Minister. According to reports, it was CM Panneerselvam who had recommended her name for the post. Chief Minister O Panneerselvam who had taken up the post just hours following the demise of Jayalalithaa tendered his resignation to Governor Vidya Sagar Rao and asked to relieve him and his cabinet citing personal reasons. The opposition slammed the AIADMK citing lack of clarification in the functioning of the party. DMK chief Stalin said that Sasikala was not the one people had voted for. Former Finance Minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram also criticised the AIDMK over the functioning of the party following Amma’s demise and said that the party was going in the wrong direction.
