A petrol bomb was hurled at the house of Jammu and Kashmir Education Minister Naeem Akhtar in Parraypora area last night. No one was hurt in the attack that was carried out by unidentified persons. Akhtar and his wife were not present in the premises as they have shifted to high security Gupkar Road after the PDP-BJP government was sworn in March last year. This is second time in last one week when Akthar was attacked. Few days ago his cavalcade was stoned when he was returning from chairing a security review meeting at Sumbal in north Kashmir. A petrol bomb was also hurled at the office of Road and Buildings department at SDA colony in Bemina area of the city last night, the official said.
On July 17, PDP assembly member from Pulwama – Mohammad Khalil Bandh suffered serious injuries when his vehicle was attacked by people in the Pulwama town. Bandh was shifted to Army’s Base hospital and later taken to Delhi for advanced treatment. In an another attack soon after the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani, protestors had set fire a building in Kokernag belonging to assembly member Kokernag, Abdul Rahim Rather.
