Pema Khandu sworn-in as new Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister

The floor test in Arunachal Pradesh state Assembly was cancelled after Nabam Tuki resigned as the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader.

Congress leader Pema Khandu has sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh. 36-year old-Khandu has become the youngest Chief Minister of the country.

Khandu, the son of former chief minister Dorjee Khandu, was elected as the chief of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) after all 30 rebel MLAs including former Chief Minister Kalikho Pul, returned to the party.

Supreme Court on Wednesday reinstated Tuki-led Congress Government and quashed the actions of the Governor post December 15 last year.

In December last year, 30 rebel Congress MLAs, backed by the BJP, had staged a protest and ousted Nabam Tuki as chief minister, which sparked a new political crisis in the state.
