The Congress Party on Thursday said that the relations between New Delhi and Islamabad cannot improve until Pakistan changes its stand.

“In Russia, Pakistan’s Prime Minister makes an agreement. The next day, his advisor Sartaj Aziz says something else that without talks on Kashmir the relations between the two countries cannot move forward. Then they make ceasefire violations along the border. Then they call a Chinese drone as ‘Indian’ and the Pakistan High Commissioner justifies this. How do you expect to have good relations? How will further talks take place?” Congress leader Rashid Alvi told ANI here.

“At least I don’t see any possibility. Unless Pakistan changes its stand, nothing can happen. But even the Indian Government should also understand the real face of Pakistan,” he added.

Pakistan earlier today summoned India’s High Commissioner to Foreign Office in Islamabad and lodged a protest over air space violation by an alleged Indian “spy” drone near the Line of Control and “ceasefire violation”.

According to the statement issued by the Foreign Office, High Commissioner T C A Raghavan was called by the Foreign Secretary, Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry to lodge the protest over air space violation at Banchirian Sector near LoC yesterday.

The Indian Army as well as the Indian Air Force, however, denied that any of their drone has been shot down or crashed.

Briefing reporters on Pakistani shelling, Foreign Secretary S. Jaishankar today said India will not let its guard down.

He, however, said India is committed to maintain peace and tranquility at the border.

Jaishankar said India had sought an end to cross border firing in the series of conversations with Pakistani authorities during the last two days, but there is no positive response.
