Pakistan denies ‘surgical strikes’ across LoC, terms it ‘cross-border fire’

Pakistan on Thursday denied the report of surgical strikes across the LoC in PoK by Indian armed forces. Pakistan said that India’s claim of “surgical strikes” across the border was a simple case of cross-border fire. Pakistani military in an interaction with the media said that the notion of surgical strikes to eliminate terrorists was an illusion credited by India to create false effects. Meanwhile, Pakistani Airforce said that the attack by India was not a surgical strike, though they are prepared for all contingencies. Pakistan’s ISPR also made it clear that if there was a surgical strike on its soil, it would give back a strong response. Earlier today, Director General of Miltary Operations(DGMO) LT Ranbir Singh and MEA Vikas Swarup addressed the media about the surgical strikes carried out across the LoC and said that severe casualties were faced by the terrorists. Talking about cross-border infiltration by armed militants, Lt Gen Ranbir Sigh said that it was matter of serious concern. The motive of the operation was to hit out at terrorists who were planning to infiltrate into our territory, he added.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif condemned the strikes by India across the LoC. Sharif, in an interaction with Pakistani media, said that Pakistan’s desire for peace should not be interpreted as its weakness. He firmly stated that the Pakistani government and military were ready for the safety and defence of their country.

He further informed the media that India had shared the details of the surgical strikes with Pakistan Army and hoped that the neighbour would co-operate in the fight against terror. According to reports, no casualties were caused by the Indian army during the surgical strikes. The President, Vice President, Former PM Manmohan Singh, J&K Governor, J&K CM were also briefed on the surgical strikes by the Indian Army

Pakistani troops have also twice violated the ceasefire along the LoC since yesterday. Pakistani armed forces violated the ceasefire along the Line of Control in the Naugam district of Kashmir. Pakistani troops had opened fire towards Indian Army posts. Pakistani troops had yesterday targeted Indian positions with small firearms along the LoC in Poonch
