In his second response today to the raids conducted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday morning on him and his son Karti, former finance minister P Chidambaram reiterated the political vendetta charge that was voiced earlier by his son Karti, reported TV channel India Today. While speaking to the channel, senior Congress leader ducked the question about Karti Chidambaram and added that he has already said what he had to say.
Earlier in the day, Karti had said that he has not done anything wrong while adding that there was a political vendetta behind the CBI raids against him in connection with the INX Media case, reported news agency PTI. “They have not seized any documents and cannot prove any”charges against me. I have not done anything wrong,” Karti told reporters. Karti also claimed that these raids were conducted to “silence the voice” of his father, reported the agency.

CBI today launched searches at multiple premises linked to former Union Finance Minister Chidambaram and his son Karti in connection with alleged favours granted in FIPB clearance to a firm, INX Media, in 2007. Chidambaram alleged, “The government, using the CBI and other agencies, is targeting my son and his friends. The government’s aim is to silence my voice and stop me from writing, as it has tried to do in the cases of leaders of opposition parties, journalists, columnists, NGOs and civil society organisations,” reported PTI.
However, Union Minister of State for Shipping, Pon Radhakrishnan, said in Madurai that searches being carried out by CBI were as part of its investigation into the INX media case. INX Media operated channels like NewsX, 9X and 9X Music. The charges against Chidambarams include criminal conspiracy, cheating, taking gratification in order by corrupt or illegal means to influence a public servant and criminal misconduct.
