Union Minister and Assam’s likely chief minister designate Sarbanda Sonowal has said once he takes charge of the state administration, it will be his government’s endeavour to win the hearts of the people of Assam, and added that with their help and support, bring about a positive and development-oriented change.
In an interview given to Jagdeesh Chandra, Head, ETV News, ahead of his swearing-in as Assam’s next chief minister in the coming week, Sonowal, speaking on the popular J.C. Show, said, “Assam requires to undergo a change urgently, and we need the support of all, including the opposition parties, to realize this goal. Only then, can change for the better happen.”
When asked to comment on the alleged reports of corruption perpetrated by the previous Congress regime, ” Sonowal diplomatically told Chandra, “Whatever the people of Assam desire, the new state government will do it.”
“Our aim is to win the hearts of the people of Assam. We have to ensure that law and order is maintained and kept an eye upon; we have to provide jobs for the unemployed youth and we have to deliver on the aspirations of the people of the state. I see the people of Assam as my ‘godfather’, and it is because of them, that the BJP has created history by forming the government in the state for the first time, and we have to deliver on that hope and expectation,” he said.
