Haryana Chief Minister ML Khattar on Thursday criticised the late Ram Kishan Grewal over his suicide and said that ‘shaheed’ were those who laid their lives at the border. Meanwhile, Kailash Vijayvargiya of the Bhartiya Janata Party also questioned the suicide and said that he couldn’t understand as to why the ex-serviceman committed suicide even when he was already a recipient of the OROP benefit. Vijayavargiya also criticised Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi and compared him to a “hero from the Comedy Circus”. Earlier today, General V K Singh had also questioned the mental stability of Grewal before committing suicide.
Meanwhile Anil Vij, Haryana Minister also spoke about Rahul Gandhi and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by comparing them to mosquitoes who flock into the house as soon as the light goes away. Both Congress and AAP have been criticised since the death of Grewal for politicising the issue. Earlier yesterday, Rahul Gandhi, Manish Sisodia and Arvind Kejriwal, among others had been stopped by the Delhi police from meeting the kin of Grewal, following which they had also been detained.

While the leaders have been criticised for politicising the tragedy, Congress MLA Randeep Surjewala had said that they were prepared to do politics tp protect the family of the ex-serviceman. Surjewala had raised questions over the OROP scheme and said that army men wouldn’t have come down to the streets to protest had the scheme been implemented. He went on to say that in this case, Pm Narendra Modi was a liar. Later in the day, ex-paramilitary personnel were also seen protesting over the One Rank One Pension scheme.
