The Opposition once again targetted Prime Minister Narendra Modi today for speaking outside the Parliament, but not speaking inside it, since the beginning of the ongoing winter session on the issue of demonetisation. Taking a dig at Narendra Modi after his speech in Gujarat’s Deesa town, senior JD(U) leader Sharad Yadav, whose party is supporting the NDA Government’s demonetisation drive, said that whatever the prime minister is saying outside Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, should speak on the issue on both Houses too.

Also reacting to PM Narendra Modi’s allegation that the Opposition is not letting him to speak in the Parliament, senior Congress leader Anand Sharma called the statement wrong and added that his party is constatntlyinsistingg on having a debate in Parliament. He said the Congress wants the prime minister to answer Opposition queries over demonetisation and not just come and give speech.

Speaking the demonetisation drive today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused the Opposition parties of not letting the Parliament to function and mentioned President Pranab Mukherjee also, who couple of days back had also asked the lawmakers not to disrupt the proceedings of the Parliament and added that people had sent them to speak as their representatives and not to sit on dharnas.

Yesterday, BJP leader Sambit Patra had also retaliated to Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi’s statement of triggering an earthquake when he speaks and mocked him by saying that the VP was best known for his political ‘quackery’, not ‘quakes’.

Referring to the Congress, Patra said that those who had been the encouraging scams last several decades were talking about ‘earthquakes’ . Union Minister Smriti Irani also took hit out at Rahul Gandhi and said that the Congress vice president has quite a lot of faith in his speaking abilities. She added that Rahul Gandhi could only trigger earthquakes inside the Congress Party.
