Operations at Amritsar airport were suspended today morning after a suspected bomb threat was noticed in the form of an unidentified briefcase – it was found in the parking area. The Bomb Disposal Squad was rushed to the spot to verify whether it is a threat or not. The area was been sensitised to ensure no one is injured. However, a few hours after the alarm was sounded operations at Amritsar airport have resumed. According to authorities, the area outside the airport is still under security agencies control where no one is being allowed to venture as checking of suspected briefcase is still on. All operations at the airport are now back in full swing. Amritsar airport is located very near the Pakistan border and it is a high profile target for terrorists. All care is being taken to ensure no untoward happening occurs there and the authorities are on a constant state of alert there.
