Looks like the problems are far from over for Sasikala Natrajan who is set to be the new Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. After former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam’s stunning revelation that he was forced to step down from the post, Election Commission has questioned Sasikala’s elevation as the General Secretary of the AIADMK party without election as it doesn’t fall under the constitutional process.
Speaking on the matter O. Panneerselvam said that Sasikala was appointed as the interim General Secretary of the party and elections will be hold for the post soon. “Sasikala Natarajan remains interim General secretary of AIADMK. Election will be held soon for the ‘permanent’ General Secretary post,” he said.

Panneerselvam became the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on December 6 2016 when the former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa suffered a cardiac arrest and served till the first week of February. Then, he resigned from the post and his resignation was accepted by the Governor. However, he made a stunning revelation later when he said that he was forced to step down from the post but made it clear that it had nothing to do with his revolt against Sasikala.
He also said that he wasn’t allowed to meet Jayalalithaa in her final days. He confessed that even though he paid a visit to Apollo Hospital on a daily basis to try and meet the ailing leader. “I had visited the hospital daily to enquire about Jayalalithaa’s health condition, but couldn’t meet her even once,” he said. Jaya spent some 75 days in hospital before she breathed her last.
Even though Sasikala was a trusted ally of Jayalalithaa, she never held a designated post in the party. So, her selection as the new Chief Minister didn’t go well with the people of Tamil Nadu and other political leaders.
