O Panneerselvam hints he may look to oust Sasikala from AIADMK chief’s post?

In a dramatic turn of events, caretaker Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, O Panneerselvam in an interview with the media outside his residence in Chennai hinted that he might drive out Sasikala Natarajan from the race to be the next CM of Tamil Nadu. In the interview he said, “Sasikala Natarajan remains interim General secretary of AIADMK.” He also said if need he might even take his resignation back. “If party cadres ask me to withdraw my resignation, I will do that,” said O Panneerselvam.

Talking about the post of the General Secretary in the party, Paneerselvam said, “Election will be held soon for the ‘permanent’ General Secretary post of AIADMK.” This is enough to indicate that O Panneerselvam is might oust Sasikala.

He also remembered the former Chief Minister late Jayalalithaa and said, “Amma remained CM for nearly 16 years, I happened to become CM twice, all this was the wish of Amma. I always followed Amma’s path.” Questiones were raised regading the mystery behind Amma’s death to which Panneerselvam said, “Health queries regarding Amma raised in recent past,its duty of state Gvt to enquire. Recommended an enquiry commission.”

O Panneerselvam has openly revolted against the leadership of Sasikala Natarajan. He said, “I will prove my strength in the assembly. Will meet Tamil Nadu people, in each and every city to make my point. I will accept Deepa’s (J Jayalalithaa’s niece) support, if offered. The Union Government is supporting Tamil people. Whoever extends support to Tamil people, we will accept it.”

On Tuesday former MP and AIADMK member K.C. Palaniswamy, raised the banner of revolt and wrote to the Election Commission saying the appointment of Sasikala as interim general secretary should not be recognised and the poll panel should appoint an ‘independent and fearless’ official to conduct polls for electing the AIADMK General Secretary soon.
