The campaign will also rank the urban and rural areas of the country on the basis of cleanliness. Municipal Commissioner had written to Akshay Kumar regarding his support for spreading awareness about cleanliness in the Metropolis. Kumar has given his consent and has agreed to be its part. Swachh Survekshan was also conducted in 2017 in January-February 2017 that ranked 434 cities. The survey falls under Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban (SBM-U). Now MoHUA has proposed to conduct its third survey to rank all 4041 cities based on an assessment of progress from January 2017 until December 2017.
The objective of this survey is to create awareness amongst all the sections of society about working towards making towns and cities a better place to live in. Additionally, the survey also intends to encourage towns and cities to develop a feeling of healthy competition, so that they focus more on improving their service delivery to citizens and work towards creating clean cities. What’s important for the survey is the participation of the citizens via social media and other traditional media channels, in order to educate their fellow citizens about the objectives and methodology of the survey and further strengthen the importance of participation.
