JD(U) Bihar unit president Vashisht Narain Singh has said Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will take a call on Deputy CM and RJD chief Lalu Prasad’s son Tejashwi Yadav at an appropriate time, according to ABP news report. Singh said that there were many questions still to be answered. Singh also stressed that the party is with Kumar, the report says. The demand for resignation of Tejashwi from his post has been growing since the registration of a corruption case against him by CBI. RJD, Congress had firmly backed Tejashwi alleging that it was nothing but a political vendetta by ruling BJP at the Centre. Tejashwi had yesterday claimed his innocence saying he did not even have a moustache when the alleged corruption took place. He also lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah claiming that they were behind this as they fear him and his father.
Notably, the ‘mahagathbandhan’ or the grand alliance of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the JD(U) has been going through rough waters after the CBI filed corruption charges against Tejashwi Yadav in hotel tender case.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had called the national and state lawmakers of his party for a meeting in Patna on Tuesday. After the meeting, sources said that the party decided to give more time to Tejashwi Yadav.
Last week, the CBI registered a corruption case against Lalu Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi, son Tejashwi Yadav; former Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) Managing Director P.K. Goyal; and the wife of Lalu’s confidante Prem Chand Gupta, Sujata on allegations of awarding the tender for development, maintenance and operation of hotels in Ranchi and Puri in 2006.
