To boost agricultural knowledge, a farm resort in Punjab's Hoshiarpur is offering hands-on experience to its visitors in order to learn how farming is actually done.

To boost agricultural knowledge, a farm resort in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur is offering hands-on experience to its visitors in order to learn how farming is actually done. The visitors of the farm can get a week-long package where they can learn several farming activities including sowing seeds, harvesting crops, ploughing fields, milking cows and even drive a tractor. The farm also takes the visitors on a ride to the nearby forest and rivulet in a tractor-trolley. Speaking about this unique concept, owner of Citrus County farm resort, Harkirat Ahluwalia explained about the package to The Week in detail. He said, “Be a farmer on weekends at Citrus County — Hoshiarpur. Get your kids to the farm to give them a unique experience in a typical farm in Punjab. Let them come and indulge in plucking fruit and sowing vegetable seeds in the fields on their own.”
This farming package also includes fresh home-cooked food for visitors which is prepared on earthen stoves at the ground level with home-grown organic vegetables which takes your farming experience to the next level. Camping and luxury tenting facilities are also included in the package.
The resort is located in Chaunni Kalan village, five km short of Hoshiarpur on the Hoshiarpur-Chandigarh highway. “We are offering guests, especially children, first-hand experience of doing farming. This is something that people have never tried before. The experience gives them the satisfaction of doing hard work and experiencing what life is like in the countryside,” Ahluwalia added further.
The Citrus County resort boasts of wide range of fruits such as Kinnow, Tangerines, Jaffa, Grapefruits and others. It also has some poplar trees for plywood and animals such as peacocks and peahens which can be seen roaming inside the property.
