A landslide triggered by heavy rainfall in northeastern Nepal has reportedly killed 15 people and swept away a dozen homes in mountainous Taplejung district, a local government official said.

Assistant District Chief Surendra Kumar Bhattarai said that 10 others were injured while nearly 15, who were said to be inside the destroyed houses, were missing, reported The Express Tribune.

The landslide came just weeks after two powerful quakes hit the Himalayan nation, killing 8,700 people and destroying thousands of homes.

Taplejung district had escaped serious damage during the April 25 and May 12 quakes.
