Nawazuddin Siddiqui is one of the most versatile actors in Bollywood today. He is known to get under the very skin of the character he is playing and his performance wins rave reviews. The actor's views are influential, but his most recent tweet has created problems in which the dirty underbelly of the film industry stands exposed. Siddiqui in a tweet late Monday evening had said ''Thanks for making me realise that I cannot be paired with the fair and handsome as I am dark and not good looking, but I have never focussed on that.'' According to news wire service PTI, Siddiqui was responding to remarks made by the casting director of Babumoshai Bandookbaaz Sanjay Chouhan, who had said that it was difficult to pair Siddiqui with any actor as the actor was dark. Chouhan had reportedly said, ''We can't cast fair and handsome people with Nawaz as it would look weird, you have to take people with distinct features and personalities when pairing them.'' Last year the Babumoshai Bandookbaaz actor had said that there was no racism in the industry. Nawazuddin had said, ''I don't think that there is any racism in the film industry. The industry only gives way to talent. If you are talented then you will get your due in the industry,'' according to an Indian Express report. Thank U 4 making me realise dat I cannot b paired along wid d fair & handsome bcz I m dark & not good looking, but I never focus on that. \u2014 Nawazuddin Siddiqui (@Nawazuddin_S) July 17, 2017 Earlier, actor Abhay Deol had been critical of Bollywood stars such as Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor, Vidya Balan and John Abraham for associating with fairness creams and associated products. The actor had in a series of Facebook posts pointed out campaigns which either directly or subtly supported the idea that being dark was not the same as being beautiful.
