Modi-Abe roadshow: Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is visiting India for a two-day visit. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will welcome Abe at Ahmedabad in Gujarat. Abe, who will be attending India-Japan annual summit meeting, will hold a roadshow with PM Modi. This will be the fourth meeting between PM Modi and Abe. “I look forward to welcoming PM @AbeShinzo. I will be hosting him in Gujarat in our fourth annual summit together,” PM Modi tweeted in English as well as in Japanese.

4.50 pm: Modi and Abe are now at the Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad. Abe and his wife Akie have signed the visitor’s book at the ashram.
4.48 pm: Japanese PM’s wife Akie Abe also accompanied the two premiers during the roadshow.
4.45 pm: PM Modi to visit a mosque in Ahmedabad along with Abe.
4.35pm: Modi, Abe have reached Sabarmati Ashram. Road show is over.
4.32pm: Recalling his visit to Japanese Shinkansen rolling stock factory along with Modi in November last year, Abe had said earlier, “Economic cooperation is the cornerstone of relationship between Japan and India…It gives me great joy to know that those Shinkansen trains will operate on Indian soil under Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail project.”

9:40 AM: As many as fifteen Japanese firms would sign agreements to invest in Gujarat during Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s visit, while the state would also get cheaper loan for infrastructure development from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the government announced yesterday.
9:37 AM: According to Gujarat Chief Secretary, J N Singh, 15 Japanese companies are keen to invest in Gujarat and will be signing agreements with the state government during the 12th Indo-Japanese annual summit in Gandhinagar on Thursday.
9:34 AM: The summit will be held in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Japanese counterpart Abe, who will begin his two-day state visit from tomorrow.
