Union Minister for Urban Development, Venkiah Naidu on Wednesday addressed the public and said that it was not in the Prime Minister’s blood to take anything back and hence, won’t roll back the demonetisation scheme. He expressed his surprise at how the opposition was coming together but questioned their strength when the ‘country was with the government’. He stated that the biggest complaint of these people was that Prime Minister Narendra Modi does neither take black money nor does he allow others to do it.
He further stated that the Prime Minister aims to bring the JAM(Jan Dhan Yojna, Aadhar card and Mobile) soon and said that there won’t be any need to meet other people. He said that the main aim of the Prime Minister was to bring about a cashless economy where the people won’t have to pay anything to anybody in person. Earlier he had questioned the opposition about the non-functionality of the Lok Sabha despite the presence of the Prime Minister. He said that the opposition was not letting any discussion take place in the parliament but was blaming the government for the same. Naidu stated that the poor people in the country were happy with the decision and they thought of the Prime Minister as Messiah.
Earlier the opposition had protested in the Lok Sabha premises in front of the Gandhi statue. Rahul Gandhi, Congress VP who led the protest accused PM Modi of running a scam in the name of demonetisation. He said that the PM had taken the decision without consulting the Finance Ministry. Gandhi had further said the Prime Minister had informed his close allies and associates about the demonetisation policy before the actual announcement had been made.
