Narendra Modi in Bihar: PM lauds Nitish Kumar, says his commitment is commendable

Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is currently on his Bihar visit, while addressing the students at the Centenary Celebrations of Patna University, applauded state chief minister Nitish Kumar for his commitment and hard work towards the progress of Bihar. “The commitment of Shri Nitish Kumar towards the progress of Bihar is commendable. We in the Centre attach topmost importance to the development of eastern India,” the Prime Minister said. PM Modi said that it is his honour to visit the Patna Univesity. “I bow to this land of Bihar. This university has nurtured students who have contributed greatly to the nation,” he added. Prime Minister further said that a fund of Rs 10,000 Crore will be allocated to 10 private and 10 public institutions. “10 private & 10 public universities will be given a fund of Rs 10,000 Crore over 5 yrs to make them world-class,” he said.

Talking about Bihar, the Prime Minister said that the state is blessed with both ‘Gyaan’ and ‘Ganga.’ “This land has a legacy that is unique. In every state, the top levels of the civil services has people who have studied in Patna University. In Delhi, I interact with so many officials, many of whom belong to Bihar,” he said. At the event, Prime Minister shared the stage with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for the first time after the the JD(U) returned to the NDA fold.

PM Modi said that India’s universities need to move towards innovative learning from conventional teaching. “Living in an era of globalisation, we need to understand the changing trends across the world and the increased spirit of competitiveness. In that context India has to make its place in the world,” he said.

“It is a day of great honour that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is present for Patna University’s centenary celebrations,” Kumar said addressing the gathering. Earlier, the Prime Minister was welcomed by Bihar Governor Satya Pal Malik and the chief minister among others at the Patna airport from where he drove straight to the Patna Science College campus.

Boosting the morale of the students, PM said as youngsters, they can do a lot for the society and should think about more innovative solutions to the problems faced by people around them. “India is a youthful nation, blessed with youthful aspirations. Our youngsters can do a lot for the nation and the world,” he said.
