Narendra Modi Gujarat rally Live Updates: The Prime Minister visited his home state Gujarat today. The visit assumes political significance as the Assembly elections will be held in December. During this whirlwind visit, PM Modi addressed a rally of BJP workers. The Prime Minister will also take part in the Gujarat Gaurav Mahasammelan to be held at Bhat gam near Gandhinagar in the afternoon. “I bow to the people of Gujarat for blessing BJP for decades. We will always fulfil the dreams of every Gujarati with full strength and vigour,” PM Modi tweeted yesterday. Notably, PM Modi has been frequently visiting the poll-bound state. Last week, the Prime Minister had visited Gujarat to inaugurate and lay foundation stones of various projects in Rajkot, Vadnagar, Gandhinagar and Bharuch. He had also held a roadshow in his hometown Vadnagar on October 8. Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, BJP national president Amit Shah and many other leaders of the party would accompany PM Modi, according to reports. The EC is yet to announce the dates for assembly elections in Gujarat, but Chief Election Commissioner A K Joti had said that the polls will be held before December 18.

2:00 PM: Hitting back at the Congress, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani yesterday accused the opposition party of having influenced the Election Commission’s announcement of Gujarat Assembly poll dates in 2012.

1:55 pm: He also refuted the Congress’ charge that the poll panel delayed the announcement of Gujarat assembly election under the government’s “pressure”.

1:50 pm: “In 2012 (Assembly election), the Election Commission ensured at the behest of the Congress that the model code of conduct was in force for a record time to prevent Modiji from working, because of which the state government could not take up development work,” Rupani said at  an election programme organised here by news channel India TV.

1:45 pm: The Chief Minister also denied the allegation that the BJP government was interfering with the Election Commission’s decisions.

1:40 pm: The EC had on Thursday announced that the assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh will be held in a single phase on November 9 and the results will be declared on December 18.
