Nagaland Election Results: The NDPP-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has gained a majority in the 60-member Nagaland Assembly, paving way for the formation of the alliance government in the state for a second consecutive term. According to Election Commission of India data, the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party has won 23 seats and leads on 2 while its alliance partner BJP has won 12 seats. The tally of the alliance including trends and results is currently 37, comfortably above the majority mark of 31 required to win the election. The counting of votes is still underway. Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to express his gratitude to the people of Nagaland for reposing their faith in the NDPP-BJP alliance. “The double-engine government will keep working for the state’s progress. I laud our party workers for their hard work which ensured this result,” Modi tweeted.
The Bharatiya Janata Party has credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his ‘Act East’ policy for the party’s victory in the state. “In the last few months, the PM has visited the Northeast more than 51 times. It is because of his focus towards Northeast that the people of Nagaland have reposed faith in the BJP,” M Chuba Ao, national vice president of the Bharatiya Janata Party, told FinancialExpress.com.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked the people of Nagaland for their blessings to the NDPP-BJP alliance and promised that the “double engine government will continue to work towards the progress of the state. He also thanked BJP workers in the state for their efforts that led to the victory of the alliance.

The NDPP-BJP alliance looks set to form the government again, winning 33 seats in the 60-member House so far and leading in 4 other seats. The alliance partners are the only two parties in the state to see a double-digit tally in the state. While the BJP has won 12 seats, the NDPP has bagged 21 and is leading in four other seats.
NDPP's Hekhani Jakhalu has won the Dimapur-III seat by 1,536 votes, becoming the first woman to be elected to the state assembly.
Republican Party of India (Athawale) candidate Imtichoba has won Tuensang Sadar II Assembly constituency in Nagaland by defeating nearest NDPP rival K Odibendang Chang by 400 votes.
Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party's (NDPP) candidate from Angetyongpang assembly constituency Tongpang Ozukum has won the assembly election with a margin of more than 3,000 votes.
Two of the four women candidates Hekhani Jakhalu and Salhoutuonuo Kruse of NDPP are leading in Dimapur-III and Western Angami seats respectively.

Speaking to the news agency ANI, Yanthungo Patton, Deputy Chief Minister, of Nagaland said that the NDPP-BJP alliance will form govt in the state. “As of now, our alliance NDPP & BJP are way ahead. We are going to get a thumping majority to form the govt under the leadership of our CM Neiphiu Rio. This time we're expecting an increase in the seats compared to last poll results.”
According to the latest ECI trends, Bharatiya Janata Party has won two assembly constituencies and is leading on 10 more seats while NDPP is leading on 18 seats.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has shared the party-wise trends of 49 seats out of 60. As per the ECI trends, NDPP is leading on 21 seats, BJP on 8, and Congress and Janata Dal (United) on 2 seats each. NCP is leading on six seats, while NPP and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) are leading on 3 seats each.
Deputy Chief Minister and BJP candidate Yanthungo Patton is leading by a margin of more than 10,403 votes from the Tyui assembly constituency. The other candidates from the seat are – Y Kikon of RJD, Senchumo Lotha of Janata Dal (United), and Independent candidate Hayithung Tungoe Lotha.
Nationalist Congress Party's candidate from the Longkim Chare Vidhan Sabha seat Muthingnyuba Sangtam is leading by a margin of more than 900 votes from his nearest rival BJP's Sethronkyu.
National People's Party's Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhutso is leading from the Kohima town assembly constituency. He is leading by a margin of more than 1,061 votes from his nearest rival of NDPP's Dr. Neikiesalie Nicky Kire.
Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party's Zhaleo Rio is leading from the Ghaspani-II assembly constituency. He is contesting against Z Kasheto Yeptho of the Republican Party of India (Athawale).
In the Atoizu assembly constituency, Nationalist Congress Party's Picto is leading by a margin of 75 votes from his nearest rival BJP' Er Kahuli Sema.
In the Arkakong assembly constituency, NDPP candidate Imnatiba is leading by 2,787 votes from his nearest rival NPP's Nuklutoshi.
As per ECI, the BJP-led alliance is currently leading on 24 seats out of 38 seats. Lok Janshakti Party(Ram Vilas) is leading on 3 seats while the Republican Party of India (Athawale) on two seats.

In the Aghunato assembly constituency, Lok Janshakti Party(Ram Vilas)'s candidate Hukiye N Tissica is leading by more than 1600 votes in the first trend from his nearest rival NDPP's G Ikuto Zhimomi.
In the Dimapur-III constituency, NDPP's Hekani Jakhalu is leading with 1,828 votes.

The counting for the recently held Nagaland Legislative assembly is underway. A total of 184 candidates have contested the election.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has claimed that there will be no hung assembly in Nagaland as the BJP-led NDA will form governments with an absolute majority.
According to Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), out of 184 candidates contesting the election, 7 candidates (4 percent) have declared criminal cases against themselves.
