Former Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Member of Parliament (MP) and close aide of Lalu Prasad Yadav, Mohammad Shabuddin was released on bail after 11 years of imprisonment for the dual murder of two sons, Satish and Girish Raj of noted businessman Chandrakeshwar Prasad on August 16, 2004.

Known as the terror of Siwan Sahabuddin has approximately 63 cases against him out of which he was either acquited or granted bail in 38 of them. But this is one case which hold him in jail for 11 years.

Arrested in November 2005 from his offcial residence in New Delhi, Shahabuddin was tried for the brutal murder of Satish and Girish Raj who were drenched in acid and the killing of Rajiv Roshan the only eyewitness of the murder who was gunned down by Shahabuddin’s sharp shooters in 2011.

On his release Shahabuddin received a hero’s welcome and was accompanied by a convoy of almost 300 vehicles, who chanted ‘zindabad’ slogans in his support.

While speaking to the media Shahbuddin said his loyalty has always been and will always be with Lalu Prasad Yadav and that Nitish Kumar was a leader who changes position as per circumstances.

There was a festive mood among his friends, family and supporters. His wife Heena Shahab and his father said that they are very happy that Shahabuddin was released on bail after 11 years.

Mohammad Shahabuddin is registered as a history sheeter with catagory ‘A’, which implies a hardend criminal without any chances of reform.

The murder of journalist Rajdev Ranjan of renowned hindi daily Hindustan on May 13 is also believed to be committed with the directions of Shahabuddin.

Reacting to his release, Asha Ranjan, widow of Rajdev Ranjan has expressed strong concerns and that she has sought protection for her and her family regarding which she met the Home Minister of Bihar.
