Yet another controversy has engulfed JD(U) MLA from Bihar, Dadan Yadav, and this time, his wife is the one involved – she has been declared a proclaimed offender in a loan default case by a Tarn Taran (Punjab) court. Dadan Yadav, a wrestler-turned-politician better known as Dadan Pahalwan, has taken responsibility for the loan, admitting that he got his wife, Usha Devi, to take the Rs 31.5 lakh loan from a Delhi-based non-banking firm. The reason he mentioned for taking the loan was to meet his expenses for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, which he eventually contested and lost.
“I am aware of the latest on the case…. But we are going to settle the matter soon. It is not a loan. They [the non-banking firm] are our friends and we will sort it out,” Dadan Yadav said when was asked about the same.
A court in Patti, Tarn Taran, declared Yadav’s wife a proclaimed offender in the case on December 3, as reported by Indian Express. The case was first booked under provisions of the Negotiable Instruments Act, later when she failed to honour a court summons, she was declared a proclaimed offender under CrPC provisions. If the matter is to be seen further, Usha Devi’s son Kartar Yadav and daughter Jaya were first and second guarantor, respectively. All three of them faces another case over the same loan at a court at Dwarka of Delhi as well.
