On day number one that the firebrand chief minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath visited the Parliament, BJP MPs made a beeline to have a word with him. He was a star attraction with most of the MPs rubbing shoulders to have a word with him or even shake a hand. Is this because he is being looked at as PM, Narendra Modi’s confidante who has his mandate and blessings or is it because they wanted to have a glimpse of the unconventional decision that the Prime Minister made in appointing him as the chief minister of a state with many castes and

Look at how Subramanium Swamy clamoured to talk to him. He was able to get two minutes with him and visibly he looked satisfied. In those two minutes Swamy was heard discussing the developments on the Ram Temple and he was even heard uttering the word Ayodhya in his two minutes of chat. Even though, Yogi Adityanath told him that he will discuss it at a later meeting, Swamy was happy to be one who could spend two minutes with him.

It is learned that several other MPs waited outside the office of Arun Jaitley to get a glimpse of the new icon of Hindutva. One of them was Rupa Ganguly of Draupadi fame. It was classic drama unfolding there.

At other location, outside the Prime Minister’ room, MPs spent an hour waiting for him as he spent an hour with the Prime Minister. So what is this adulation all about? or is it the curiosity to see the saffron clad monk who wore Ray Bans.
