Addressing the issue to inflation, especially food inflation, PM Narendra Modi said that it cannot be viewed as a perception issue, intead should be accepted as a reality.

Speaking in an exclusive interview to Times Now, Modi said that the speed at which inflation grew during the previous government was apalling. Instead, although facing various adversities like drought and low produce, this government was able to curb the speed of inflation.

Narendra Modi said that, “We faced two consecute droughts which were extreme in nature and it resulted in low produce, especially of pulses.” The government had to import large quantities of crops including pulses, which eventually increased the prices a little.

He said that these problems have solutions when both the state and central government work together, and this government has striving towards that and has been successful to a large extent.

He says that this time there were special incentives too, and also trying to introduce policies where pulses would have a different MSP. He adds that state government and central government should work together in order to stock food and also find ways to improve quantity of production.
