Sukhoi-30MKI fighter plane crashed in Rajasthan's Barmer this afternoon, according to TV reports.
Three people were injured after a Sukhoi-30MKI fighter plane crashed in Rajasthan’s Barmer this afternoon, according to TV reports. It has been learned that both pilots are safe. A court of Inquiry has been ordered by Indian Air Force, the report says. The injured were admitted to government hospital. The area has been cordoned off. The aircraft has crashed during the routine sortie. The incident took place after hours after a Chetak helicopter of the Indian Air Force crash landed in the adjoining district of Kaushambi, minutes after it took off from an airbase on the outskirts of the city this morning. No casualties have been reported, defence officials said.
According to Defence PRO Group Captain, B B Pande, the IAF Chetak helicopter took off from the Central Air Command headquarters at Bamrauli, 20 kms from here, on a routine sortie with two pilots on board.

“Shortly after take off, the helicopter developed a technical failure following which the pilots tried to land it in the fields. The land was uneven and the helicopter toppled while landing, though both pilots ejected safely,” he said in a statement.
An inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the accident, Pande said.
Last month, a MiG-29 fighter jet of Indian Navy had made an emergency landing at Mangalore airport following hydraulic failure, reported PTI. According to reports, the aircraft had suffered a tyre burst during the landing. The development has reportedly also affected other flight services at Mangalore airport. There have been numerous instances of MiG fighter aircrafts crashing in the year 2015 and 2016.
