A mid-air collision was averted over Guwahati airspace in which Guwahati-Mumbai and Guwahati-Chennai Indigo flights were involved in a near collision. This incident occured due to severe clear-air turbulence. The incident took place on Tuesday evening when an Indigo flight from Mumbai to Guwahati was about to land at the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport. Just then, an Indigo flight bound for Chennai took off, crossing the flight path of the first aircraft. "The IndiGo flight en route to Guwahati experienced turbulence due to monsoon," said the Indigo spokesman. "Indigo flight 6E 813 from Guwahati to Mumbai experienced turbulence due to monsoon which caused aircraft to climb down 250-300 feet. At the same instance aircraft 6E 136 was crossing 6E 813. Following the protocol, the pilot took advisory action to maintain desired separation", Indigo told ANI. As per a statement made by Indigo, four passengers complained of giddiness and 2 cabin crew needed first-aid, post turbulence. An ambulance with doctors was called at the airport.
